Most frequent questions and answers
We suggest wearing comfortable clothes to your ultrasound session: A loose shirt that can be easily lifted over your growing belly, and a pair of pants or a skirt that can be scooted down below your hips. To maintain your privacy, we do not recommend wearing a dress to your session. You may also want to bring your camera or video recorder to capture any special moments of you and your loved ones during your session.
Yes, you must be under the care of an Obstetrician or Midwife at the time of your appointment, and we will need their practice name as well as their contact number.
Possibly. Sonograms use sound waves to send a signal into the body. The returning signal produces the ultrasound image. Thicker tissues result in a weaker return signal which may cause poor image quality, but this is not always the case. Drinking lots of water several days before your appointment to increase your amniotic fluid will allow us to capture the best possible images.
f you are no more than 12 weeks into your pregnancy, we suggest that you arrive with a full bladder. Drinking 32 ounces of water 1 hour before your session should help us adequately visualize your baby during your ultrasound. If you are in the second or third trimester of your pregnancy it is not necessary to come to your session with a full bladder, but being adequately hydrated will increase the chances of getting better pictures during your scan. You should start drinking water several days before your scheduled sonogram appointment. If your doctor says it is okay, drinking a fruit juice prior to your session may make your baby more active during the appointment. Before each appointment, make sure you have contacted everyone you wish to attend your session and inform them of the date, time, and location of your appointment. We want to make sure everyone important to you is able to share in this experience.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book your date and time. The balance is due the day of your session prior to ultrasound being performed. Exceptions for refund include delivery of baby or mama to be in hospital.
Yes…of course we do twins (and even triplets)! To accommodate the added difficulty in visualizingpregnancies with multiple gestations, an additional fee of $25 will be assessed per baby.
We are able to see some things better than others depending on where you are in your pregnancy. Between 15-26 weeks your baby’s entire body is better visualized. At this size it should be easy to watch him stretch his legs, or see her in her best “yoga pose.” After 26 weeks baby starts developing more fat, and his facial features become more defined. Because your baby is growing so fast, and her living space
is getting smaller and smaller, as you reach the end of your pregnancy it will become more difficult to obtain good pictures. We recommend scheduling your sonogram session no later than 32 weeks, but some babies remain in a good position up until the very end of the pregnancy. So if you’re willing to give it a try then so are we!
